Definitions

 

1.         Insurance Case:  A case manually opened on ORSIS when a patient has insurance coverage and the Utah State Hospital (USH) provides the insurance information to ORS.  The participants on an insurance case include the insurance company and the patient.  An insurance case is opened on ORSIS for the main purpose of billing the insurance company for USH charges.

 

2.         Patient Case:   A case manually opened on ORSIS when an adult patient is admitted to the USH and the USH provides the referral information to ORS.  The patient is the only participant on a patient case.  A patient case is opened on ORSIS for the purpose of assessing the patient and his/her spouse an amount to pay towards the cost of care at the USH.
