CS 002P Reporting Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect

12/93 Revised 07/07/08

UCA 62A-4a-411

UCA 62A-4a-411 states:

“Any person, official, or institution required to report a case of suspected child abuse, child sexual abuse, neglect, fetal alcohol syndrome, or fetal drug dependency, who willfully fails to do so is guilty of a class B misdemeanor.  Action for failure to report must be commenced within four years from the date of knowledge of the offense and the willful failure to report.”

If you know or suspect a IV-D child's health or welfare is threatened due to physical or mental injury, sexual abuse or exploitation, negligent treatment, or maltreatment, report the abuse or neglect to the Department of Human Services, Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS).

You are authorized to release to the Child Abuse and Neglect Agency needed information regarding the non-custodial parent (NCP), custodial parent (CP), or child for purposes of investigation of the abuse or neglect.
